Not only in England is now on November 11 Remembrance Day. Also on the island of Marken it’s now a special day. On the former island, opposite the village meeting place, yesterday two memorials were unveiled. One monument is raised in memory of some “Marker” men who did not return to the island after the Second World War, the other monument to the crew of a British bomber, who in 1943 crashed into the lake, not far from Marken.
